Event and Meeting Calendar

Old Town Hall - Now Showing

The second floor of the Old Town Hall in Fairfax is open most days from 10:00 - 2:00 Monday-Thursday when we can get sitters.  If we cannot get sitters during this time period we cannot open.  OTH is a great place to work on your art, so feel free to use the gallery as your studio time.  Please contact Carol Caputo if you can volunteer:   carolanncap@yahoo.com

Village Gallery - Reopening February 2

Due to construction, the VG had to close for part of Dec and Jan, however the work has been completed. Don Allen, along with several volunteers painted and cleaned the gallery and it is looking great. Beginning in February, the Village Gallery will be open most Saturdays from 1:00-5:00.  We would like to keep it open longer, but need sitters.  This is a great opportunity for you to work on your art, so feel free to use the gallery as your studio time.  Contact Don Allen if you can volunteer  donsallen@cox.net .  The address for the gallery is on this site's home page.   The next hanging day is Thursday, Feb. 2nd from 3:00-7:00. The theme for February is "Animals".

Chocolate Festival at the Village Gallery

Saturday and Sunday, March 3 & 4

Fairfax City hosts its annual Chocolate Festival this weekend. While we are not an official part of their program, we have found that by offering chocolate treats and keeping our doors open, we attract a lot of visitors. We had over 200 visitors one day. This year we plan to do the same, but need the help of our members. Members, please donate a chocolate treat and sign up to sit a shift at the gallery this weekend.

Spotlight Show and Reception

Hanging date April 5 at OTH

Reception Saturday, April 21 from 2:00-4:00

Don't miss our only judged show of the year. The Spotlight show always features some of our artists' best. Five cash prizes are awarded during the reception, including "best of show". Members must register in advance if you want to participate. You may register up to 2 pieces. Hanging fee is $8/piece. More information and application to be posted soon, so start thinking of what pieces you plan to enter.

Providence Presbyterian One-Day Show

Sunday, April 15 (time and theme TBA)

For the second year, the Providence Presbyterian Church (9019 Little River Turnpike) has asked us to participate in a one-day celebration they are hosting. This event attracts hundreds of people and resulted in a number of art sales last year. The church also handed out a number of awards and cash prizes to our artists. In order to participate, you must be able to deliver you artwork on April 14th, the day before the show and take it home after the show (or arrange to have someone do it for you.) There is no hanging fee, but participants are expected to sign up for a 2-hour sitting shift that day. If you are interested in participating in this show, please contact the show's coordinator: Kathleen Stark at landkstark@verizon.net

Heritage Festival

Saturday, May 5 from 6:00-10:00

Old Town Hall both levels

The Heritage Festival was a great success last year and one of our most popular parties. It's a celebration of ethnic diversity. Much of the artwork will feature the cultural backgrounds of our artists. There will be dancers and live music, including the local Irish band, Sior Og. Refreshments will be served and there will be a wine bar.
