Landscape Workshop by Fritz Treyz – Saturday, June 11, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Learn the process for painting a landscape or seascape. FAL member Fritz Treyz will guide you through a simplified process of capturing and expressing the essence of natural elements and organizing the elements into a cohesive pictorial statement. The workshop will emphasize how to “see” the landscape accurately with an artist’s eye in terms of basic shapes, values, colors, and light and shadows. Fritz believes the secret to a successful painting lies in the decisions made at the start, so special attention will be given to that aspect of each student’s work.
Fritz will answer questions and work with individual artists one-on-one to help solve challenges by offering suggestions or demonstrating options. The workshop will include a demonstration, individual instruction and class critiques as well as a discussion of supplies and helpful ideas to organize art equipment most efficiently.
Landscape photos will be provided or you are encouraged to bring your favorite photo to copy. Students must bring their own supplies. (See recommended supply list in syllabus link below)
The class will break for lunch. Please bring your own lunch or plan to purchase it at one of the nearby restaurants.
