Artist Statement:

My personal journey with art has always been about expression and catharsis. At 15 I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and this coupled with debilitating anxiety and depression turned my world upside down. Art was what got me through some of the worst times. It gave me purpose and something to look forward to and find comfort in. Sometimes it even gave me a voice to say the things I was too afraid to speak. My work often involves bright colors and eccentric objects and patterns, with repetition having become a large part of my work.  Creating the work is the most therapeutic part for me, as I have often sought art as a means of therapy for dealing with my struggles with mental illness. Some of my works offer commentary on these struggles, while others simply offer a chance for me to create something beautiful from the mess inside my head.
