Fairfax Art League Exhibition at The Virginian

The Virginian Senior Center has invited Fairfax Art League to exhibit our artwork for the residents.

The residents will vote for Best in Show ($400 award), and two Honorable Mentions ($100 awarded each).

Save the dates:

Exhibition dates: March 7th, 2024 – end of June 2024

Entries due by: February 28th, 2024  

Artwork drop off: Mar 4th from 2-4pm

Artwork drop off location: The Virginian, 9229 Arlington Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22031

Reception: TBA

Unsold artwork pickup: End of June 2024 (official date TBA)

Entry to this exhibit is by online submission.

It’s time to celebrate the holidays, our art community and all that was accomplished in 2023. Bring your holiday cheer and a friend and join the celebration.

Eric Westbrook is Fairfax Art League’s distinguished guest artist presenting a workshop on figure drawing scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Green Acres Center in Room 113.

A note from the artist: “In this workshop we will practice drawing the human form with accuracy and expressiveness. Students will learn techniques to translate the model’s proportions and pose onto paper, emphasizing the underlying structure as well as the details of the figure. The class will be in-person, with a model. All experience levels welcome.”

Materials:

• Newsprint or white drawing pad, 18 x 24” recommended

• Soft vine charcoal

• Soft charcoal pencil

• Kneaded eraser

• Sharpener
  

  ****Participants are encouraged to arrive early.****
