Marcia Gray Gallery

Marcia Gray in her own words …
Animals have been my subject matter all my life. Horses and dogs are my favs. I enjoyed a wonderful career as a riding instructor for 35 years which kept me quite busy and gave me plenty of subject matter. I loved teaching. I am self taught and proud of it. My mom was a trained artist and from her I learned a lot of technical rules. Going to the barn taught me animal basics giving me a well rounded experience.
Creating an animal with eyes that show its depth of soul is my artistic image since before I could write my name. I am an animal activist forever being concerned for the welfare of every species.
In my paintings I aim for the viewer to see the animal’s particular spark. What makes that animal necessary for the world. At least I try to do that. I love working with pen and ink, charcoal, acrylic and oil paint and colored pencil as well. I also enjoy painting other people’s pet portraits as well as my own. Animals are my passion and art is my vehicle.
